Spectre Folk

Spectre Folk started as a solo noise/guitar 7" by Pete Nolan of the Magik Markers in 1999, Nolan put out 2 lps worth of soupy psych/noise Blackest Medicine & Compass, Blanket, Lantern, Mojo, before recruiting Peter Meehan, Aaron Mullan and Steve Shelley into the fold.. The band then grew to include Mark Ibold on bass and James Canty on 2nd drums and keys. The latest incarnation features Pete with his daughter Violet Ray on guitar, John Shaw of Magik Markers/Son of Earth on drums/guitar, Mellie Farris from Tuscadero on Bass, Eben Bull from Sian Alice group on Keys

Crush the Junta

Crush the Junta is a trio featuring Dennis Mariano of Overhand Sam and Bad Weapon, Chris Reeg of Seek The Black Goat, Entente Cordiale, and Blood and Bone Orchestra (RIP) and Joe Tunis of Pengo, Tuurd, Joe+N, Entente Cordiale, and SQ (he also runs Carbon Records).

The three play a variety of instruments, but mainly stick to drums, synth/electronics/bass and guitar respectively. This music is usually heavy and loud, hints of heavy-psych/kraut/free-noise.
